PODCAST/RADIO

I’ve been actively working in the podcast space since the debut of my own limited series show in 2018. I adore the medium of podcasting for storytelling, especially through a classic interview format. Since then, I’ve touched every part of the production process: from being the one to book the guests and set the mics, to pressing the “publish” button for release - and everything in between. Samplings of my work here:

SOMEONE LIKE ME PODCAST, in partnership with nonprofit organization AncoraTN
Host and Associate Producer | website | 2020-present

Someone Like Me empowers human trafficking survivors and educates listeners on the truths of domestic human trafficking. As the host and creative consultant, I carefully guide survivors through telling their difficult and traumatizing stories in a way that accomplishes the show’s mission. In addition to hosting the show, I write the narration for each episode and consult on creative and production for the project as a whole. I was instrumental in the development of a virtual launch party, which included using a third-party platform to have four show representatives present for the launch. This launch included scheduling rehearsals, designing the imaging and creating clip videos, and facilitating a 40-minute stream with four attendees.

FAITHFUL PODCAST on the That Sounds Fun Network
Ad voiceovers, Associate Producer | website | 2022

The FAITHFUL project is a beautiful orchestration of many parts: books, music, and stories from female leaders in the Christian Industry. In addition to my work with the music side of the project, I help with the podcast in ad coordination and voiceovers and development of forthcoming episodes.

THE RABBIT ROOM NETWORK
Host, Senior Producer, Ad voiceovers | website | 2022

The Rabbit Room is a nonprofit organization that believes art nourishes community, and community nourishes art. The playful organization has been in the podcasting space for many years, and I joined the network in 2020 to help with advertising and voiceovers. In Summer of 2022, I helped re-launch the long dormant Rabbit Room podcast by co-hosting and developing episode content. I worked with the executive producer to build episode layout and develop segments, proposing creative ideas that would showcase the personality of the organization through audio. The end result is a playful and beautifully-produced format which shares recent Rabbit Room events and upcoming work from the nonprofit.

STEADFAST WITH SANDRA MCCRACKEN in partnership with Christianity Today, Season 2
Senior Producer | website | 2021

Sandra McCracken’s voice in the thought-provoking Christian space has been well-established, especially with the first season of Steadfast. The second season was recorded curing the COVID pandemic, so episodes were textured quilts of zoom calls with dear friends of Sandra. My role was to finalize episodes for mastering and adapt the original files for mid-roll ads. Sandra and I worked together to write copy and develop a release schedule. Finally, I worked with the Christianity Today in-house team to insure delivery of episodes.

TOKENS PODCAST AND RADIO SHOW
Associate Producer, Voiceover talent | website | 2020-2021

Since 2008, the Tokens Show has been hosting philosophical and theological variety shows in Nashville. The Tokens podcast invites authors, musicians, journalists, activists, poets, and justice-seekers in an exploration of goodness, truthfulness, and beauty. The radio show airs on WPLN, Nashville Public Radio on Sundays at 2pm central and uses podcast content with past live show performances. As associate producer, I managed the marketing, promotion, and distribution of the content. I also wrote, recorded, and edited sponsor and announcement spots.

THE ROGUE ONES PODCAST: 22 Extraordinary people doing fascinating things
Host, Executive Producer, Editor, Marketer/Promoter | website | 2018-2019

PRODUCER: Each episode included interviewee identification and research, interview scheduling, pre-interview screenings, coordination of audio recording (if needed), all writing for narration and show text which accurately reflects the tone and personality of the show.

HOST: I take the art of interviewing seriously and carry my conversations with professionalism and care, ensuring each guest is welcomed and made to feel comfortable. The conversations I guide are thoughtful and unique, as I aim to find ways to let the guest share their stories in a new way, with the listener’s desires in mind. Hosting a conversation requires a great deal of preparation, emotional intelligence, and flexibility, and I’m able to utilize all three in my interviews.

CONTENT EDITOR: I worked to make the final conversation smooth and curated which required extensive editing. This would involve moving parts of conversation, cutting sections, merging sentences where there were delivery fumbles, and eliminating anything for guests to be represented as accurately and brilliantly as possible. 1.5-2 hour+ conversations were edited into 25-45 minute episodes to focus the listener’s attention and tell a streamlined story. Cut content was often used as bonus episodes in the “Rogue Rabbit Trail” series and were released between full episodes.

MARKETER: The marketing plan for the show and individual episodes were extensive.

Pre-Podcast brand launch: Visual brand was designed to match parent host (my company Rogue Creative Marketing & Media), and original artwork was adapted for the new podcast. The podcast launch was preceded by a brand launch with product for sale and social campaign “We Are the Rogue Ones.” A Spotify playlist was created with user-submitted songs.

Website: The show’s website was completely branded and customized for the needs of the podcast. Google Adsense was used on the website and installed on all appropriate pages. Each episode has its own page with show text and links for all platforms.

Episode Releases: Each episode included a marketing campaign with graphics to be designed, social media posts to be curated and posted, and email sends to be developed (with completely original copy) and scheduled. Between episodes specific social/email campaigns were executed like the “Chill Bumps Series,” which extracted 30-60 second clips from episodes that were particularly profound.

VOICEOVER/NARRATION

In high school I spent a summer working at a radio station and was elated to do several voiceovers for local businesses...and I fell in love.
I continue to do this work, primarily in the podcast and audiobook areas. Demo upon request.

ON CAMERA

An upperclassman taught me how to use imovie in high school, and this opened up a world of freedom to create my own visual media. While I most often used these skills for Oscar-worthy YouTube videos from my bedroom, being comfortable on camera has come in handy over the years.

END SLAVERY TENNESSEE 2020 GALA
Host

As an extension of hosting the End Slavery Tennessee’s podcast, I was invited to host their annual Gala. This event, usually in person, was held virtually and involved setting the tone for the event as well as navigating the complexities of a live stream with many moving parts. I introduced segments and transitioned from lighthearted fun into difficult and heavy conversation while reminding viewers of the fundraising nature of the event and the cause they were supporting with their donations.

TOKENS SHOW - VIRTUAL EVENTS
Announcement and Sponsor Host

In 2020, Tokens Show took their live events and streamed them for subscribers. I started the streams with welcome announcements, reminding viewers of opportunities for getting involved and share more about all the initiatives Tokens is producing. I am also the sponsorship host, and I come on-screen to share about our sponsors and invite viewers to interact with them.

ON STAGE

Having been in vocal lessons since age 6, I’ve spent many hours playing and dreaming on stage.
